Birth Preparation Workshops
In person workshops that prepare you for birth, postpartum and the enormity of becoming a mother, a parent; whether you are creating or expanding your family.
We get that different people need different things.
That’s why we have two group workshop options that enable you to prepare for birth in the way that meets your needs and enables you to explore what you want.
We have three offerings.
-
Our signature weekend immersion combines yoga, birth education, birth preparation, intentions exploration and traditional Chinese medicine. Together with your partner you’ll deep dive into understanding how birth works and how you would like to navigate this context while honouring your whole self.
-
Our 1-day workshop Ready to Birth is a focused, practical and supportive 1-day intensive for those preparing for labour and birth. This workshop combines physiology, practical skills and holistic preparation to help you and your partner or main support person feel more connected, confident, informed and steady as birth approaches.
-
Preparing Body, Mind and Heart for Birth is a reflective half-day workshop just for the mother or birthing person, with gentle movement, breathwork, nervous system support, values exploration and emotional preparation.
-
We love this question! And as doulas, we hear it a lot in a myriad of scenarios. The answer is, you’ll know what is right for you, once you have all of the information that you need.
The main different between the two workshops is that the 2-day immersion includes traditional chinese medicine talk, a yoga session and deep dives into birth physiology and how birth works. It is double the facilitated time to explore what you need and want for birth.
For those who feel like they need a little less on the birth physiology aspect, our 1-day option focuses more on moving through the phases of labour and understanding what to expect while unpacking what support looks like for you along the way.
Both options include hands on practice of key support approaches.
All about our workshops
Preparing Body, Mind and Heart for Birth is a reflective half-day workshop just for the mother or birthing person, with gentle movement, breathwork, nervous system support, values exploration and emotional preparation.
Ready to Birth is our focused 1-day intensive. It offers clear, practical and holistic birth preparation for those wanting to understand labour, explore decision-making and advocacy, practise comfort tools and feel more confident with their support person.
Our Radiant Birth 2-Day Workshop is a deeper weekend immersion, with more spacious reflection, extended birth mapping, guest sessions, yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine, partner preparation, postpartum planning and community connection.

Chapter 1: Arriving, Grounding and Setting Intentions
We begin by arriving in the space together, grounding into the weekend and setting intentions for what you hope to learn, feel and clarify. This opening helps create a sense of safety, connection and shared purpose between you, your support person and the group.
Chapter 2: Understanding Your Body and Birth Physiology
This chapter explores the anatomy, hormones and nervous system processes that shape labour and birth. You will learn how fear, tension, safety, oxytocin and the birth environment can influence the unfolding of labour, and how to support your body’s natural physiology.
Chapter 3: Birth as a Rite of Passage
Birth is more than a medical event; it is a physical, emotional and personal threshold. In this chapter, we explore how beliefs, culture, expectations and the maternity system can shape your experience, and how to approach birth with more awareness, agency and trust.
Chapter 4: Clarifying Your Birth Values and Preferences
Through guided reflection and discussion, you will begin identifying what matters most to you in birth. This includes your values, intentions, preferences and the kind of support that helps you feel safe, respected and connected.
Chapter 5: Advocacy, Consent and Communication
This chapter focuses on decision-making, communication with care providers and understanding your rights. You will explore tools for asking questions, giving or withholding consent, navigating interventions and staying centred if plans change.
Chapter 6: Moving Through the Phases of Labour
We move step by step through the final days of pregnancy, early labour, active labour, transition and birth. You will learn what may happen physically and emotionally in each phase, how to recognise labour cues and how to respond to the changing rhythm and intensity of birth.
Chapter 7: Comfort Measures and Hands-On Support
This is a practical, embodied chapter where you and your support person explore tools for comfort, connection and labour support. We practise techniques such as massage, counterpressure, breathwork, positioning, movement and other ways to support physiology and ease.
Chapter 8: The Role of Partners and Support People
Birth support is active, emotional and deeply relational. This chapter helps partners and support people understand how to offer steady presence, practical care, reassurance, advocacy and communication support throughout labour and birth.
Chapter 9: Traditional Chinese Medicine for Pregnancy and Birth
Facilitated by guest practitioner Michaela Rinkel, this chapter introduces Traditional Chinese Medicine perspectives on pregnancy, birth and postpartum wellbeing. You will explore simple principles around nourishment, energy, rest, acupressure and supporting the body through late pregnancy and labour.
Chapter 10: Yoga, Reflection and Partner Preparation
During this chapter, the birthing person is supported through gentle prenatal yoga, breathwork and meditation with Georgia Cato. At the same time, partners or support people take part in a facilitated discussion to reflect on their role, emotions, strengths and needs as they prepare to support birth.
Chapter 11: The Golden Hour, Afterbirth and Early Postpartum
This chapter explores what happens immediately after birth, including the golden hour, third stage options, delayed cord clamping, early feeding, hormonal shifts and physical recovery. We look at how to protect this tender transition and support bonding, rest and healing.
Chapter 12: Postpartum Anchors, Support and Integration
In the final chapter, you will begin shaping a postpartum plan that reflects your needs, values and support systems. This includes considering nourishment, visitors, boundaries, rest, emotional wellbeing, practical help and the people or practices that will help you feel grounded in the early weeks.

TESTIMONIAL
“I gave birth to our divine baby boy last week and the experience was all we could have ever dreamt of. Dave and I felt so informed and empowered thanks to the amazing course we did with you, we both hugely credit the gorgeousness of our birth story to the wisdom we received from you across those two days. We are now in our bubble at home, in awe of the birth that Tom and I achieved together. We are filled with so much joy and love, and credit the smoothness of our transition into parenthood with the positivity of our birth experience. This is a gift that you helped give to us, and we could not be more grateful.”

Preparing Body, Mind and Heart for Birth, a half day workshop
-
This half-day workshop is a reflective, embodied and gently practical space for the birthing person to prepare for birth from the inside out.
Across the workshop, we move through three core areas of preparation: body, mind and heart.
Body: You will explore how your body may be preparing for birth and how you can support yourself through movement, breath, rest, nourishment and body awareness. We will explore simple embodied practices to support comfort, grounding and connection, including gentle movement, breath, relaxation and nervous system regulation.
This is less about “getting your body ready” as if it is not already wise, and more about listening to what your body may be asking for in these final weeks or months of pregnancy.
Mind: Birth can bring many thoughts to the surface. Some may feel clear and steady. Others may feel tangled, fearful, uncertain or shaped by things you have heard, witnessed or absorbed.
In this part of the workshop, we create space to notice what is living in your mind around birth. We will gently explore expectations, fears, hopes, decision-making patterns and the stories you may be carrying about birth, pain, control, surrender, support and safety.
This is not about forcing positivity. It is about awareness, honesty and creating more space within yourself.
Heart: Birth is not only physical. It is emotional, relational and deeply personal. This part of the workshop invites you to connect with your values, instincts and inner knowing. We will explore what matters most to you, how you want to feel, what helps you feel held, and what kind of emotional support may help you move through birth with more steadiness.
You will be invited to begin identifying your personal anchors for birth. Including words, practices, people, sensations, images or intentions that help you return to yourself.
