Private Birth Preparation Workshop

Our private, in-home birth preparation session is designed for individuals, couples, and families who want personalised, uninterrupted support from an experienced doula. This is spacious, gentle, deeply grounded education that meets you exactly where you are.

Birth Preparation

A person is holding a baby doll prop in their hand and a pelvic model in the background.

Birth is one of life’s most powerful thresholds, and how you prepare matters. Rather than a generic class or large group environment, private birth education allows you to explore your questions, history, preferences, and concerns in a setting that feels safe, intimate, and familiar. Your session is tailored entirely to your needs—whether you’re preparing for your first birth, planning a VBAC, navigating anxiety or previous trauma, or simply wanting a calmer, clearer understanding of the birth process.

What Private Birth Education Offers

A personalised and holistic approach

Your doula brings evidence-based knowledge and traditional wisdom directly into your home, weaving physiology, comfort techniques, emotional preparation, and decision-making into a cohesive, confidence-building session.

Support that reflects your unique circumstances

Whether you’re birthing in the public system, with a private obstetrician, through midwifery group practice, or planning a home birth, your education is shaped around your chosen model of care, your preferences, and your values.

A calm, grounded learning environment

Without the pressure of a group setting, you have the time and space to explore topics in depth, ask questions freely, and practise hands-on comfort tools in your own home environment.

Partner-centred support

Partners or support people learn clear, practical ways to contribute throughout labour and birth—emotionally, physically, and logistically. Many leave feeling empowered, connected, and ready.

What We Cover During Your Session

  • Birth physiology, hormones, and the nervous system

  • Understanding labour—stages, sensations, flow, and timing

  • Comfort measures: breathwork, movement, rebozo, pressure techniques, positions

  • Creating a safe, oxytocin-rich birth space

  • Advocacy, communication, and navigating the maternity system

  • Preparing for the final weeks of pregnancy

  • Partner roles, emotional support, and rhythm during labour

  • Birth mapping and exploring alternate pathways (induction, caesarean, assisted birth)

  • Immediate postpartum: golden hour, newborn procedures, placenta options

  • Early postpartum planning, feeding foundations, and setting up a supported transition home

Your doula adapts the depth, pace, and focus of each topic to what feels most meaningful for you.

Accommodating to your needs

Our services are designed to compliment one another. We recommend booking both a course and doula in tandem. As we understand that birth is not a one-size-fits-all, we also welcome bookings for courses or doulas separately.
