support from a doula
A spacious, gentle, grounded experience that meets you exactly where you are.
Birth and the becoming of a parent is such an important and life changing threshold, booking a private session gives you a unique opportunity to curate your learning and exploring based on you, your family and your needs. It allows you to choose the elements of the group birth education content while also allowing you to explore your questions, history, preferences, and concerns in a setting that feels safe, intimate, and familiar.
Whether you’re preparing for your first birth, planning a VBAC, navigating anxiety or previous trauma, or simply wanting a calmer, clearer understanding of the birth process. Our sessions are delivered by doulas across Victoria and each doula brings evidence-based knowledge and lived experience directly into your home, weaving physiology, comfort techniques, emotional preparation, and decision-making into a cohesive, confidence-building session that will see you looking toward birth with joy and exhalation.
Whether you’re birthing in the public system, with a private obstetrician, through midwifery group practice, or planning a home birth, your education is shaped around your chosen model of care, your preferences, and your values.
Benefits of a private session
No big group means that have the time and space to explore your chosen topics at the chosen depth, ask questions freely, and practice hands-on comfort tools in your own home environment.
Partners or support people have time to ask questions and practice with hands on guidance, they aren’t learning any and all things; they are learning about their particular person and their needs.
Your doula can adapt the depth, pace, and focus of each topic to what feels most meaningful for you.
You can invite multiple members of your family or network in addition to your partner/main support person; siblings are welcome alway
What we can cover in a session
We will chat over the phone or via zoom to discuss how we can tailor the session for you. We all come to birth with our own stories and experience and this means we all need and want different things. We can skim over the topics you feel good on and zone in on the ones that you feel a bit lost with. Particularly for those planning VBAC’s or who have unique circumstances to consider this can really make space to hone in where it counts.
This is not an exhaustive list; you let us know what you need and we build something just for you.

“We did a private birth education workshop with Josie and wow, I really cannot recommend her enough! She covered so much in our time together and gave us many helpful tools as well as insightful and tailored advice for how we can best manage pregnancy and labour. We learnt so much in our session and will definitely be coming back for more in the future. If you’re considering birth education offerings with Radiant Birth or a private consult with Josie, this is your sign to book it in! You won’t regret it”
