Course Flow

Day 1

Prenatal Slow Flow

People practicing yoga for pregnancy in a studio with mats and props, including a woman in child's pose near a support pillow.

All our yoga is taught with commitment and care to honour you and your baby. Guided by specialist pre-natal yoga teachers (who are also mothers), our yoga is tailored to common anatomical concerns and changes in the body that occur during pregnancy. Using traditional yoga postures, expect to learn optimal movement techniques useful during labour and appropriate pranayama (breathing techniques) for both pregnancy and labour.

Birth Education

A person teaching birth education sitting near a whiteboard with notes, in a room with curtains.

This part of the course helps you feel prepared and confident for birth by understanding what to expect and integrating any fears you have through increasing understanding. We’ll explore the anatomy and physiology of the birthing process, what to expect in the days leading up to labour, early through to active labour and the energy and rhythm of the process so you know when to go to the hospital or to call your care provider. Together, we’ll explore ways to create an environment and support team that works with the physiology of birth taking.

You will practice natural support strategies including use of rebozo, active birthing positions, counterpressure, acupressure and more. You’ll also learn about simple support tools, emotional supports, medical pain relief options. You’ll learn about the current maternity systems and the different approaches that care providers take, so you understand how this impacts you and your experience. We will discuss decision making tools, how to advocate for yourself and the birth you want.

Sharing of Birth Stories

A group of people sitting on yoga mats in a studio, engaged in a discussion or class. They appear relaxed, with some holding water bottles and others sitting on cushions. The setting suggests a calming, educational environment.

It is through the sharing of birth stories we learn more about ourselves and connect to others. Through this sacred ritual from mother to mother we hope to educate, open your eyes to the possibilities that unfold in the birth space and inspire you to manifest your own birth. From home birth, to hospital birth we hope to give you honest and raw insight to the final stage of your journey. The final step of our course is to create a birth plan bringing everything you have learn during the course. We know that we cannot predict a birthing outcome but this cathartic exercise can help you to manifest your deepest desires and communicate to your team how you wish to bring your baby earth side.

Day 2

Prenatal Slow Flow

A birth educator guides a student using a birth sling in a studio setting. The student is performing an exercise while holding the strap attached to the wall.

Dive deeper into the physical postures and movements that will assist in active and established labour to get you out of your head and into your body. Learn the importance of how to establish a balanced pelvic floor for birth. Through breath and guided movement we will teach you how to access both layers for a speedy recovery after birth (to avoid prolapse and incontinence) as well as assist in cervical dilation through the action of softening in labour.

Prepare for Postpartum

Yoga mat with a white pillow, notebook, and stainless steel water bottle on a wooden floor.

In the first few weeks of becoming a new mum, a woman’s body and mind go through an unparalleled journey. As you learn to be a mother and get to know your baby, your body is also healing from birth, and this takes time. You will learn about postpartum from the perspective of a traditional Chinese Medicine , this module aims to shift and demystify western thoughts on the ‘bounce back’ theory – and redirect mindsets regarding the rebuild of a mother’s long-term mental health and physical well-being. Learn about the specific food groups that will help best nutritionally support you after birth and for breast feeding. Learn how you can integrate eastern philosophies and rituals into the modern world and create the best postpartum care from your own home.

You will learn about common challenges in postpartum, what support is available to you and how to tap into it, from breastfeeding support, meal trains and postpartum food services. You will consider the ways you can plan and prepare to ensure rest, nourishment, support and healing so you emerge physically and emotionally well so you can thrive as a new parent.

Write your Birth Plan

A couple sitting on the floor, having a conversation about birth planning. The woman is wearing casual clothes and the man is wearing a cap and smiling. They are in a room with a light background and a water bottle nearby.

In this session we bring everything together—what you have learned, what feels right to you, and what you hope for—by creating a birth plan.

A birth plan isn’t about controlling what happens but about being clear on how you want to make decisions, what you want and communicating it to your support team in a written format.

Birth can be unpredictable, but this plan helps you express your needs, preferences, and what makes you feel safe. It’s a way to share with your support team what matters most to you during birth.
